The Reveal

Makeover shows like What Not To Wear and Extreme Makeover introduced a new noun to our lexicon: REVEAL. Now, you may say, "Hey, that is not a new word," and you would be correct, but the usage is new as in "Stay tuned for the reveal," meaning "we're gonna show you the end product in just a minute." Couples are now having "reveal" parties to find out what gender their baby is going to be while surrounded by friends and/or family. Old word, new usage. Why do I bring this up? Well, we had a reveal event to deliver a commissioned painting to the requesting patron. It was great to share, in a very personal way, the story behind the request and the resulting painting. I wish that all my deliveries could be as nice. In fact, I wish that I could deliver all paintings sold personally to their new homes. Maybe someday....
