Take Three: Accountant, Business Owner, Artist

Of all the titles I have ever held, the title of artist is the newest and most unexpected. This thing called “art” is a new adventure for me. I have always had an appreciation for art in its various forms and been a serious photography enthusiast for many years, but me, an artist? I can't even draw.

Wet Paint

At 50 something, I walked into the nearby big-box craft center, dropped a couple hundred bucks and walked out with art supplies. What I did not walk out with was a clue about what I was going to do with any of this stuff: a couple of canvases, randomly selected paints and mediums, and some palette knives. After a couple of attempts at realism, It was apparent that my interpretive skills were inadequate, so I developed my own style and process: Layers added, paint removed, colors blended, high gloss finish.
